COLUMBIA — South Carolina-based potato chip company Lowcountry Kettle announced the debut of its S.C. Collegiate Edition packaging line in a Sept. 4 media release.
Established in 2016 in Charleston, Lowcountry Kettle has since coined itself as the “Official Chip of South Carolina” and has chips available in more than 500 stores across the South. Notable regionally influenced flavors include Spicy Pimento Cheese, Fair Fried Pickle and Holy City Red Wine Vinegar & Sea Salt.
The Collegiate launch consists of two revamps of Lowcountry Kettle’s most classic flavor: “Carolina Sea Salt” with a garnet and black bag, and “Clemson Sea Salt” with an orange and purple bag.
“We can’t think of a more authentically Southern tradition than college football,” said Andrew Trumbull, co-founder of Lowcountry Kettle, in the release. “We’re thrilled to pay tribute to the rich legacies — and passionate fans — of both USC and Clemson through this exciting collaboration.”
These spirited chips will be available on both University of South Carolina and Clemson University campuses, including at sporting events, in 2-ounce bags.
“This latest milestone is thanks to our supporters who embrace the homegrown spirit of Lowcountry Kettle,” said Lowcountry Kettle Co-Founder Clayton Wynne. “We are excited to expand our kettle chip flavor lineup with the newest collegiate bags, and for USC and Clemson fans to discover our authentic Lowcountry taste this tailgate season.”
