Christopher Huang, owner of Ninja Ramen and Narwhal Jousting Club, has opened a new, unique bar. Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon is located at 4219 Washington, directly behind Ninja Ramen and facing Thompson Street, and Huang is hailing it as the world’s smallest shot bar.

Huang is [in]famous for his sense of humor, and this new shot bar is a perfect example as to why. Coming in at a whopping 42 square feet, Toy Gun has standing room for up to four customers — 6 if you don’t care much about personal space. The bar is a bright yellow, custom-built, miniature barn occupying the seldomly used patio space behind Ninja Ramen. Not missing an opportunity, the menus are printed out with the smallest font size and cut to fit Pokémon card sleeves. The decor is still in the early stages. Huang intends to paint saloon doors onto the netting that functions as an entrance, and is still deciding on how to paint the interior.
The offerings are simple and include a variety of spirits, including whiskey, vodka, tequila and Malort, as well as a dozen popular party shots like Green Tea, Vegas Bomb, Starfucker and Lemon Drop, all priced at $7 each. Ramen Broth and Pedialyte are available as “premium chasers” for a dollar. Huang says that as the bar gets traction, he will add a few simple cocktails and host guest bartenders for pop-up shifts.

Huang had the idea before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the concept is just now coming to fruition. He says that it’s been a rough month and Ninja Ramen had $25,000 in damages the major storms that hit Houston. So, now is a great time to check out either (or both) Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon or Ninja Ramen (which is having an unbelievable sale on Japanese whisky through August).
Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon is currently open Thursday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
