TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Tucson broke another heat record Tuesday and we’re going to see these high temps the rest of the week.
It’s hard on a lot of businesses, especially ones on wheels.
La Carreta del Rorro on Cortaro Farms Road is getting through its 10th summer in southern Arizona and the temps keep climbing.
“It feels hotter,” said owner Ramon Bringas. “It feels more humid because it’s been raining a lot.”
110 degrees, 115 degrees. You name it, they’ve worked in it.
“Especially in the heat right there in the food truck we’ve got 25 burners and it gets too hot in there,” Bringas said. “It’s just been crazy. It’s 130 degrees in there. That’s what it feels like.”
Their equipment keeping that delicious food cool is feeling the heat too.
“We’ve been having a lot of issues with the refrigerators inside,” Bringas said, “We have to check that every day to try and keep it cold.”
Despite the weather this time of year, they’ve still got customers to get them through but they certainly slow during the hottest parts of the day.
“It’s good to support the local businesses here,” said customer Sean Malowney. “I could go down to a chain and pick up some fast food but Sonoran hot dogs are a treat and they make them really well here.”
To get through, they look toward the silver lining.
“I just remember that it’s 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix so it’s not too bad,” Malowney said.
